Dr Linda Shetabi co-designed with Dr Giamila Quattrone (University of Liverpool) a visit of a group of five BA Year 3 students from Liverpool School of Architecture as part of the University of Liverpool-funded Summer Heritage Research Internship. Organised on 24 June – 12 July 2024, the internship programme operationalised a heritage-focused partnership between the two institutions formally established in July 2023.
Hosted by the Built Heritage Research Collaborative at the Division of Landscape Architecture, the interns undertook research and documentation activities at the historic villages in Danba county, Sichuan province, supervised by Dr Shetabi along with Ms Michelle Chelsea Ho. Through a combination of desk and field activities, the interns learned about tools and techniques for built heritage research and documentation, heritage classification systems and traditional construction practices.
The programme concluded with a hybrid event on 11 July in which participants presented their work to a panel of academics from the University of Liverpool and HKU, joined by Dr Hongtao Liu, Associate Professor and Director of the World Heritage International Research Center at Southwest Jiaotong University.
