Title: Research on Coordination Mechanisms for the Conservation and Revitalization of Urban Cultural Heritage. [城市文化遺產保護與活化利用的協同機制研究]
Funder: National Social Science Fund of China (NSSFC).
Scheme: NSSFC Major Program (25&ZD115)
Period: 12/2025 -- 7/2028 (CNY 800,000).
This NSSFC Major Program project has a joint team from Tsinghua University (led by Prof A. Dang), Xiamen University (led by Prof Y. Li), Southwest Jiaotong University (led by Prof H. Liu), the University of Hong Kong (led by Prof A. G.O. Yeh), and Beijing International Studies University (led by Prof T. Zou). Our team covers the Northern, Southern, Southeastern, and Western regions of China for representative case studies.
This study aims to identify and address coordination failures in urban cultural heritage conservation and revitalization. To be specific, three levels of issues will be identified: At the subject (stakeholders) level, the absence of quantitative responsibility–authority alignment and execution credibility; at the object level, insufficient assessment of authenticity degradation and dynamic balance; and at the technical level, data silos and fragmented management.
Led by Chair Professor Yeh, Anthony G.O., Director of our 'Smart Heritage' station, our work package introduces AI-assisted digital twin technologies and blockchain solutions to enhance traceability of responsibility, dynamic monitoring, and cross-stakeholder coordination, as new enabling technologies for conservation coordination.
